Zelda calls to Byrne from within the possessed phantom. Even in the illustration below, Byrne kneels to Zelda in the manner of a servant. Though the final game has them meeting for the first time, perhaps they initially meant to be old friends.

Zelda: Byrne!!!

Alfonzo

Alfonzo is the descendant of Gonzo, who appears in The Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass. In these design sketches, however, the traces of Gonzo are not as clear.
