You’re assisted in your fights with the towering goliaths of Shadow of the Colossus by occasional hint from Dormin, the spirit that barters with you to do its bidding. However, to the best of my knowledge, it seems that not all of the hints present in the code made it into the final version of the game. Also interesting is that not every Colossus has an equal number of hints. In this script, The used hints are bolded, while the unused hints are left as plain text. To determine which hints made the cut, I referred to this unofficial script manually transcribed by TheSinnerChrono.

Personally, I had a lot of trouble defeating these creatures without using a walkthrough, let alone finding where to go. These extra hints would have definitely come in handy when figuring out what to do. Colossus 1

剣をかかげ光を巨像に当てるのだ
そうすれば巨像の急所がわかるだろう…

Hold up thy sword to reflect the light onto the colossus. Its vitals shall be revealed…

Thou must climb the colossus
to reach its vitals…
